Dr. Abeer Yousry Ibrahim is a distinguished Professor of Therapeutic Biochemistry at the National Research Centre (NRC) in Giza, Egypt. With a career spanning over three decades, I established myself as a leading researcher in the fields of pharmaceutical biochemistrymedicinal plants, and natural product discovery.

Academic and Professional Background

Dr. Ibrahim completed her entire academic journey at Cairo University, earning my B.Sc. (May 1995), M.Sc. (2000), and Ph.D. (2006) in Biochemistry. My professional ascent within the NRC began in 1996 as a scientific grant student, eventually leading to my current role as a Professor within the Pharmaceutical and Drug Industries Research Institute.

Research and Innovation

My research focuses on the therapeutic potential of secondary plant metabolites and natural polysaccharides.

  • Patents: hold a patent for a "Smart visual pH-sensitive wound dressing"(Registration No. 569/2021), demonstrating my commitment to applied science.
  • Disease Treatment:I have served as the Principal Investigator on major projects exploring new drug discoveries for breast cancer, prostate diseases, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, hyperlipidemia.
  • Publications:I have authored 63 scientific articles, with 45 appearing in Scopus-indexed journals. My work is widely cited, Scopus h-index is 16 with citation 895, boasting a Google Scholar H-index of 33 with i10: 129.

Global Collaboration and Recognition

An active figure in the international scientific community, I involved in several collaborative projects with the Bulgarian Academy of Science focusing on biological activity and biotechnology on medicinal plant. Also, I served on the scientific committees for international seminars on ecology in Bulgaria.

My excellence in research has been recognized through multiple awards, including the Excellence in Research Outputs from the NRC (2011, 2016) and the Molecules Best Paper Award (3rd Prize) in 2015.

Teaching and Mentorship

Dedicated to training the next generation of scientists, Dr. Ibrahim has coordinated numerous training programs on the extraction and identification of bio-active principles for organizations such as the Egyptian Biodynamic Association and the Higher Institute for Agricultural Co-Operation. I actively supervised various M.Sc. and Ph.D. candidates at Cairo and Helwan Universities, Egypt.
